Crossed Paths

You were cooking when the doorbell rang. You sighed and placed the pie in the oven, closing it with your foot.

“I’ll be right there!” You yelled, cleaning your hands on the apron around your waist and walking to the door. You stood on you tiptoes and quickly glanced through the spyhole. A wide grin forming in your lips before you even opened the door. You twisted the knob and put your hands on you your hips. “My, my.  If my eyes aren’t playing tricks on me. Dean Winchester is back!”

He smirked. “Hey, beauty.” You giggled and threw yourself in his arms for a tight hug. “Does that mean you missed me?”

“Not at all.” You answered playfully pushing him away from you. “Where’s Sam?” You asked, glancing at the front yard to look for the giant younger brother in the shadows.

“Waiting in the car.” Dean shrugged and leaned closer. “I wanted some time just for us, babe.” He winked at you.

You rolled your eyes and waved in the car’s direction, hoping Sam would see you.

“There is a pie in the oven and, if you invite your brother, I might as well serve you dinner. We can talk later.”

“Well, I just can’t refuse pie.” Dean replied.

“How come I knew you would say that?” You chuckled. “Go get Sam.” You said, pushing him towards the yard. Dean nodded and walked away.

You widened the door, letting it open for them and went back to the kitchen to set the table.

You were carrying the dishes when you first saw him.

You turned around and there he was, you screamed and would have dropped the plates if it wasn’t for his agile hands. A beautiful male with amazing puppy blue eyes and raven hair wearing suit and a trench coat had his gaze on you.

You stared at him, mesmerized.

“I’m sorry if I scared you.” He said. You took the dishes out of his hands.

“May I ask who are you?” You were too shocked to move away.

“I’m Castiel, angel of the Lord.”

Dean and Sam walked in exactly in that moment. You sighed and put the dishes on the table with a loud clung. “Dean! Why is an Angel in my house?” You franticly asked.

“About that… sorry.” He answered. You rolled your eyes.

“I should have imagined.” You said, before greeting Sam with a warm hug. “It’s nice seeing you again.”

“I can say the same about you, (y/n).” He replied. You let him go and turned to the angel.

“I’m sorry. I’ve been rude.” You approached him and offered your hand, which he reluctantly squeezed, like if he wasn’t sure of how to do it. You smiled. “I’m (y/n) (l/n).”

“I am aware of that. Dean wouldn’t stop talking about you.” You blushed and moved your gaze to the floor.

“Hey!” Dean exclaimed. “I was just talking because you didn’t know her.”

You took your hand out of Castiel’s grip and put on the cooking gloves, so you could pick the pot and take it to the table.

“I hope you’re hungry. I’ve made fish’n’chips.”

“Yummy!” Dean licked his lips in a dramatic way.

They were about to sit down when you beat on the table with a wooden spoon, frowning. “C’mon, boys. Have some manners and go wash your hands.” You scolded them.

Dean grinned. “You haven’t changed a bit, have you?” He asked before heading to the lavatory. You smiled and sat down.

You started eating when they were all back.

“How I missed your food!” Dean said with his mouth full, you glared at him but he just shrugged and kept happily eating.

“It is delicious, (y/n).” Sam made sure to fix his brother compliment, for which you just smiled and said a sheepish ‘thank you’.

You took a small sip of your soda and glanced at the angel, who wasn’t eating.

“I guess you’re a trio now, hum?” You asked, leaning on your elbows.

“Almost that. Cas helps us sometimes.” Dean answered, not really caring about the conversation.

“Interesting.”

Castiel gazed at you for a while, making you uncomfortable. “I think you are interesting.” He stated, making you slightly flush. “Your history fascinates me.”

“My history?” You looked down at your plate, feeling your chest aching and unaware to the glares the brothers sent the clueless angel.

“You are a strong woman.” Castiel said. You sighed and looked in his eyes. “Many humans can’t stand so many losses”

You cleaned your throat with a hem and stood up forcing a smile onto your lips and collecting the dishes. “I’ll bring the dessert.” You announced making your best not to run to the kitchen. You would never let them see you crying.

You dropped the ware in the sink and fell on your knees, sobbing when tears started rolling down your cheeks. It had been a long time since anyone reminded you of the incident.

It was your fault all of your family was dead. You killed them without mercy just as you did to your boyfriend. The most painful one was the death of your little sister, just a small girl at the time.

It happened four years ago. You were possessed, but you could remember vividly killing each one of your relatives. Your mother, father, grandma, aunt and sister. The Winchesters found you crying at your sister’s body after the demon left you for no good reason.

You felt so much lighter after it was gone. At the same time, the guilty filled you. The brothers comforted you and after making sure the blame wouldn’t fall on you and you wouldn’t kill yourself, they left.

You spent the next year trying to find a way of killing demons. You eventually stopped in a small city where your path crossed theirs again. The Winchesters helped you getting the weapon, realizing what a good hunter you turned out to be.

You refused joining them, but you got involved with Dean. You kissed Dean before leaving to look for the demon that killed your family, and that was it.

Two years later you found the place where the demon was and, surprisingly, met them again. This time you actually had a one night stand with the older brother, but you left by the morning without saying goodbye because you couldn’t stop when you were that close.

You killed the demon and abandoned the hunter life. Now, one year after the last time you met, they were in your house bringing all of those awful memories.

You heard steps coming your way and quickly wiped the tears, grabbing the pie and turning around with a grin. Your eyes met Sam’s.

“(y/n), look…”

“Don’t worry, Sam. I’m fine.” You cut him off. “Help me here. Take the pie and I’ll catch the tableware and cleaned dishes.”

“I’m sorry about Cas. He really didn’t know what he was doing.” He said as he grabbed the pie from your hands. “That’s just him, he can’t understand human’s emotions.”

“I said I’m fine. You really don’t need to worry.” You stroked his arm gently and got the ware. “Let’s go before Dean starts complaining.”

He grinned and walked at your side. Sam landed the pie right in the middle of the table and you distributed the plates. You stopped when it came to Castiel.

“So… Can you eat?”

“I usually don’t, but I can.” He answered.

“Then you’re getting a slice.” You handed his dish, before cutting three huge slices and a smaller one for you.

“I could marry you, you know?” Dean said, moaning with a forkful of pie. You giggled.

“Yeah, right. I just can’t imagine Dean Winchester settling down.”

“I would… for you.” He seductively said.

You rolled your eyes. “How is your pie, Cas?”

The angel seemed surprise for being included on the conversation, or maybe just for the fact you were using his nickname. “I think it is absolutely marvelous.”

“Well, I’m glad you like it.”

“It was really good to catch up with you, but we must go, it seems we have a large job in town.” Sam said, getting up, followed by Dean and Cas.

“You can visit us if you want. I would enjoy a second shot of that night.” Dean purred when he was passing close to you.

“It’s not going to happen.” You replied, before looking back to Sam. “You know you could stay here, right?”

“We don’t want to bother you.”

“You won’t! I live alone in this big house and there’s always leftover food, it would be nice having some company. I could even help in the research if you need.”

Sam and Dean exchanged a short look. “I guess… we could stay.” Sam ended up saying.

“Great!” You said. “I bet you’re tired. Why don’t you guys follow me and let me show you the bedrooms?" You asked,  taking them upstairs and signing to the doors. “Dean, Sam, Cas and there’s a bathroom over there.”

“This house is huge!” Dean commented.

“I know, I always questioned myself on why I haven’t sold it yet.”

“Humans are very attached to memories. That could be the reason.” Castiel gently stated. This time, instead  of letting it hit you, you simply grinned and nodded.

“You must be right. I like the memories. Now, if you excuse me, I’m going to my room. Good night.”

“Night.” The boys answered. Your room was the last one on the corridor, so they got to theirs first. You expected to hear three doors closing, but when you only heard two, you looked up. Castiel was standing in front of his assigned bedroom and looking at you.

“I wanted to apologize. Sam explained mentioning hurtful memories is rude.” He finally broke the silence.

“And I guess I should thank you.”

“What for?” He tilted his head.

“Well… you said I was a strong woman and I take that as a compliment. Thank you.”

“You are very welcome.” He answered without smiling even once.

“Have a good night, Cas.”

“I wish you the same, (y/n).” He replied and you entered your room.

You heart was beating at fast pace and you wondered why the angel caused all that bunch of feelings inside you. Bad and good all together and you were struggling not to let it burst out of you.

You dressed your nightgown and slipped under the blankets, your vision slowly fading away as you fell asleep.
Hey! This randomly appeared in my mind and the fist part is just suppose for you to situate in the story, before it really starts, I'm writing the second part and I guess it will be out tomorrow.
Hope you like it! And, please, let me know what you think!
